Kites

I love movies for all the obvious reasons n one more.Every time I go out to watch one, something good happens.Last evening I was on my way to watch Kites here in Jodhpur when I got a message from Tony that Chaitu got selected to THE INDIAN NAVY.It was great news.It was one of his biggest dreams. He had worked quite hard for it and after a long wait of nearly half a year, it has finally come true.He 'll soon be a Commissioned Officer.Chaitu was on his way to the famous Sampath Vinayak Temple with his mom when I called him on phone to congratulate him...Mom + God + Dream + Hard work = Success.Equation seems to be good enough, right?!!..Tony, to celebrate Chaitu's success had taken his friends out for a treat in Hyd n I treated myself to a plate of mouth-watering Ras Malai.Since I had bought the tickets already, I darted straight to Screen2.I reached just in time.I was searching for my seat, F8, when the movie started. But I found somebody already sitting at my place. To make myself sure whether I was at the right seat, I asked him the same.He replied in affirmative. He gave me a look which seemed to say, " Abey Duffer, kahaan aa gaya bey tu ??!!" I was confused. 1097 thoughts crossed my 1.5kg dump bin (or may be less, I'm a lesser mortal..lol :D) ..Am I at the right theatre ??..Of course I am, I trust in my photographic memory..Did I buy a ticket for this show or the next ?? The ticket shows 6:30 pm and my mobile says 6:34pm.No, SAMSUNG can't be wrong...Did the girl, who issued me the ticket, dupe me??..No,no way.She was too cute to cheat.I was fighting out(F8, eh ?? :P) each possibility when the theatre's ticket checker intervened n solved the issue. Our महाशय had come atleast 20 mins in advance, to watch HOUSEFULL which was playing in Screen1 n was having a gala time here with his collar held high n sleeves rolled up, comfortably seated like Alexander the Great with one leg on the other. All of a sudden the Emperor became a popat. He left the throne for me.I'm the King now, yes, I..The King !!...I was sorry for him rather than being amused. It's because he not only made a fool of himself buying a ticket for HOUSEFULL but also made a Maha Popat of himself by being at the wrong place at the right time which cost him his throne.Poor Fella !!..The next seat was unoccupied.I wondered how cool it 'd have been if I had a girl friend and she accompanied me here.I looked at the seat.It said, "F9(FINE), so what if u don't have one ??..Don't u have enough problems in life??!!"..lol :D ..only then did I realize that I had missed the beginning.I hate to miss the openings, I was restless..I prodded F7 for it, he replied that there is nothing much to tell.I didn't want to spoil his experience, so I didn't bother him again.I started watching the movie from the current scene but at the back of my head I was dying to know how it started.Just then I got a call from Santosh.I last talked with him on Feb 24 (no, I'm no Harry Loraine, it was the day when Tendlya scored a double century in ODIs) and I cannot reject the call.Santu, one of my best boyhood pals, we worship the same God, Shahrukh Khan. Both of us, as kids, despised curd the most.We used to bath together n come out in the same towel.(Fortunately, NEITHER of us is gay now...lol :D).I received the call and after exchanging pleasantries, I asked him to tell me how the movie began. I was sure that he 'd have watched it on the first day itself n he did not let me down.He narrated the beginning n left me in the scene where I was.I felt good to see Hrithik on screen after 2 long years. He was looking brilliant. He promised me another DHOOM.It was a delightful surprise to see Kangana in the movie.I was once upon a time a fan of her.Bonus points to Kites from my side :) !!...As expected there was a good dance sequence. But it's the Romance which eclipses the dance. Barbara was super duper hot.The couple sizzled on screen. They share a fantabulous chemistry. There was everything one would ask for in the movie.Style, Substance, Glamour, good photography & cinematography, good screenplay, tough goons, action, thrill, excitement, laughs, tears, sorrow, kisses, punches, happiness, pain, ecstacy, good, evil, दोस्ती, दुश्मनी, truth, lies.......Everything, but NO SEX!!..Yea,NO सेक्स. The couple never made out, though they got several opportunities to do so.There were some tidbits flying in the media some time ago (donno how far they r true)that few really good intimate scenes were shot, but Rakesh Roshan later didn't want them in the movie because he felt they were unnecessary n solved no purpose.I CURSED him then.(My apologies to the moral brigade. Please excuse me.I am 21 and I study in ISM...INDIAN SCHOOL OF MALES :P).But now, I understand the genius in him behind his analysis. The film really didn't need 'em. And it was also important for one of the points in the movie to be true. They (arey, not Hrithik-Rakesh..Hrithik n Barbara :P ) dream of making babies but that dream would never come true. Now did I spill the beans??!!..If yes, please don't mind.If no, Aal izz Well :)..Watch the movie for every other reason.I just wanted to see their chemistry, which was par excellence n I got good value for my money.

The title is
apt.I took it this way.Live the moment. The best part in a kite's life is it's flight, when it scales new heights. The best phase in your life is when u r in love, when u reach great depths.

I really wonder why
MTV was desperately asking people not to watch the movie.A TICKR on MTV goes something like this." A Rs.2 kite is much better than Rs. 200 KITES ".Probably their terribly stressed and depressed team took the theme this way..."A Kite, when it flies too high, risks breaking it's bond with the string n goes out of control, n ultimately collapses. People, deep in love, ultimately die."...This, what I say is, Extreme Sickness Exemplified !! Team MTV needs serious lessons in Comprehension(here movie) Analysis, Yoga & Meditation. It 'd do 'em good if they utilize their time improving their own quality of programmes n shows. They say their shows are kick-ass, but the truth is, they are dumb-ass.

Kites is a must watch. It may not be perfect, but it's not bad.

Screw MTV, Hail BONDbandar !!
